About Me
I’m Karis Annette, Qualified Midwife, BMid (Hons), Dip. Baby Massage, Dip. Hypnobirthing.
A little bit about me: I’m a qualified midwife, an antenatal educator and an instructor in both baby massage and hypnobirthing in Lincoln, UK. After graduating from The University of Nottingham, I have been fortunate enough to work in Africa (both in a remote village and at Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Western Ghana), London, Yorkshire, Hampshire and Manchester. I’m not sure how I found the time, as I am also the proud mum of 11 children.
About Red Tent
Feel Strong and Supported
Traditionally, the ‘Red Tent’ is a safe space purposely created for women to share, connect and gain strength from supporting one another. Taking inspiration from the sharing of knowledge and my experiences globally of being a midwife, I founded Red Tent believing that every woman deserves a positive birth experience and continuation of care.
Pregnancy, birth and motherhood doesn’t always receive the consideration it is worthy of. I believe in a woman's ability to birth her baby. I also understand that for some women a positive birth may not be 'natural', medication free, unmanaged or without intervention.
My aim is to welcome you into my Red Tent and support you with up-to-date information, current research and an understanding of choice. There’s always lots of different options! I aim to give you the knowledge to feel empowered and confident in achieving your 'perfect' birth or the tools to manage whatever evolves during your birthing experience. Knowledge is power!
